My cafe reviews series has finally grown to be unwieldily numerous. Hence, with the much repeated care for others of mine (at least when blogging is involved – please don’t expect much further), I started contemplating a categorization of some sorts for your convenience.
But how? Designing a catch-all label is never an easy trick, and probably not even a good idea to start with. But we do it anyway and all the times, ’cause convenience has its own worth.
Adjectives such as classy, quiet or popular would no doubt fail miserably. (Think a conversation: “Ôi em ý đáng yêu lắm ý!” – what would inevitably follow? “Đáng yêu kiểu gì mới được?”. See?) Simple ranking, in terms of ♥, would be overly biased. A café exceptionally well designed to be hip and cool may suffer an underrating of mine – New Style café is the perfect case in point.
So, here is the deal: I will put cafe into purpose-driven categories. From my own experience, this will help tremendously, for it mirrors the process people pick a cafe: asking “for what occasion?” and “to what ends?”, etc. And without further ado, please see the drop-down list, and hopefully find for you the café that suits.
(P/S: Keep the recommendations coming please! They are greatly appreciated.)
Update Aug. 24: I’ve been off from Hanoi small alleys to New York grand avenues once again (at this very moment, I’m on a CoachUSA bus, listening to the good old pre-ride instructions.) So that means this Cafe Reviews series is now officially halted. It’s been a great ride, folks. Thank you much.
